The national competition for this important civic facility for the SMC, was a wonderful opportunity for us to venture into using technology to its fullest in designing a high-performance building. This 1.2 Million Square Feet building was to be designed on a site right in the prime business locality of the city, which used to be earlier a jail for the city. Other than desiging an ultra-functional building which looks good, we could address, through our design, very critical aspects like speed of construction, flexibility of spaces, practically zero maintenance cost, humanised spaces and high level of safety from fire and earthquakes. The design was highly appreciated and was judged to be in the top 3 amongst over 25 design entries of prequalified firms.
